The GDC Dycal Applicator-Double Ended-1 (PICH7) is a dental instrument designed for the placement and application of dental materials, specifically Dycal. Dycal is a calcium hydroxide-based material used in dentistry for pulp capping and cavity lining procedures.The applicator features a double-ended design, which means it has two functional ends with different purposes. This allows for versatility and convenience during dental procedures.

One end of the applicator typically consists of a small, curved spatula or paddle-shaped tip. This tip is used for precise placement and manipulation of the Dycal material onto the prepared tooth surface. It enables the dentist or dental professional to apply the material accurately in the desired location.

The other end of the applicator usually has a small, pointed tip or a fine brush. This end is utilized for mixing the Dycal material before application. It allows the dentist to thoroughly mix the components of the material, ensuring a consistent and homogenous consistency.

Direction to use :-

• Prepare the tooth surface: Ensure that the tooth surface is clean and free of debris. Remove any decayed or damaged tooth structure as necessary.
• Mix the Dycal material: If the applicator has a pointed tip or fine brush on one end, use it to mix the Dycal material thoroughly according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This step ensures proper blending of the components for consistent application.
• Load the applicator: Once the Dycal material is mixed, load the curved spatula or paddle-shaped tip of the applicator with a small amount of the material. Ensure that the tip is adequately coated but not overloaded to allow for precise application.
• Position the applicator: Position the loaded tip of the applicator at the desired location on the tooth surface. The curved spatula or paddle-shaped tip enables accurate placement and manipulation of the material.
• Apply the material: Using gentle pressure, apply the Dycal material onto the prepared tooth surface. Utilize the curved spatula or paddle-shaped tip to spread and shape the material as needed.
• Smooth and adapt the material: After applying the material, use the curved spatula or paddle-shaped tip to smooth and adapt it to the tooth surface. Ensure that the material covers the intended area and is evenly distributed.
• Complete the procedure: Follow the specific procedure or treatment protocol for pulp capping or cavity lining. This may involve additional steps such as the application of a liner or protective layer over the Dycal material.
