  • Holding Ligatures or Elastics: Place the tips or beaks of the pliers around the ligature or elastic.Gently squeeze the pliers to securely hold the ligature or elastic. Avoid excessive force to prevent tearing.
  • Placing Ligatures or Elastics: Position the pliers with the ligature or elastic over the target area (bracket or archwire).Release the pliers gently to place the ligature or elastic in the desired position.
  • Tying Ligatures: When using Mathieu pliers for tying ligatures, hold the ligature or elastic in place with the pliers. Use your other hand to make the necessary knot or tie.

  • Release and Sterilization: Once the ligature, elastic, or needle manipulation is complete, gently release the pliers by relaxing your grip. Clean and sterilize the pliers before using them again.
  • Safety and Comfort: Throughout the procedure, maintain a steady and controlled grip on the pliers. Be cautious not to exert excessive pressure that might damage the ligatures, elastics, or tissues.
