The GDC Periodontal Sugarman Bone File  (Fs3/4s) is a specific dental instrument used in periodontal procedures. The Sugarman File is a double-ended instrument used for interproximal bone reduction. It is very easy to use, very safe, and is used in addition to standard crown lengthening bur. Sometimes crown lengthening bur does not fit in between the tooth, especially upper molars. In that case, Sugarman Files can be used. 

• Mesial-Distal Used to smooth the bone or the narrow canals of the interior of the tooth and thus facilitate disinfection of the internal surface.

Direction to use :- 

• Prepare the Patient: Ensure that the patient is properly positioned and adequately anesthetized for the procedure.
• Select the Appropriate End: Determine which end of the Sugarman File is suitable for the specific interproximal bone reduction you need to perform.
• Isolate the Operative Area: Use a dental dam or other appropriate methods to isolate the tooth or teeth that require interproximal bone reduction.
• Start with a Crown Lengthening Bur (if necessary): If the Sugarman File is being used in conjunction with a standard crown lengthening bur, begin by using the bur to create initial access to the interproximal area.
• Use the Sugarman File: Holding the Sugarman File like a pen, gently insert it into the interproximal space where bone reduction is needed. Apply controlled pressure and use a back-and-forth motion to reduce the bone incrementally. Pay close attention to maintaining the desired shape and contour of the bone as per the treatment plan.
• Frequent Evaluation: Continuously evaluate the progress of bone reduction to avoid over-reduction.Use dental mirrors and periodontal probes to assess the surgical site’s condition.
• Rinse and Check: Periodically rinse the operative area to remove debris and assess the progress. Ensure that you achieve the desired level of interproximal bone reduction without compromising the tooth’s stability or the surrounding tissues.
• Finish and Clean: Once the desired bone reduction is achieved, remove the Sugarman File.Clean and sterilize the instrument for future use.
• Post-Operative Care: Provide post-operative instructions to the patient, including any necessary medication and follow-up appointments.
