The GDC Sickle Scalers Cumine #6 (Scm152) are versatile dental instruments designed for precision scaling and cleaning procedures. They efficiently remove plaque, calculus, and tartar from tooth surfaces while ensuring precise control. Use of a scaler below the gum line is likely to damage the gingiva (gums). Scalers have pointed ends.

Direction to use :- 

• Prepare the Operatory: Ensure that your dental operatory is clean, well-lit, and properly set up for the procedure.
• Select the Appropriate Tip: Choose the Cumine #6 scaler tip from your instrument tray. Confirm that it is in good condition, free of any damage or defects.
• Prepare the Patient: Seat the patient comfortably in the dental chair and provide appropriate protective measures, such as bibs and eyewear.
• Proper Ergonomics: Maintain ergonomic posture during the procedure to prevent strain. Ensure good visibility and access to the patient’s mouth.
• Hand Hygiene: Perform thorough hand hygiene by washing your hands and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, masks, and eyewear.
• Gently Insert the Tip: Hold the scaler firmly and gently insert the Cumine #6 tip into the area requiring scaling. Ensure the tip is properly aligned with the tooth surface.
• Scaling Technique: Use the scaler to remove plaque, calculus, or tartar deposits by employing a light, controlled, and systematic scaling motion. Pay close attention to detail and avoid applying excessive force, which can damage tooth enamel.
• Frequent Rinsing: Periodically rinse the patient’s mouth and the scaler tip to remove debris and maintain clear visibility.
• Check for Completion: Continuously assess the area being scaled and ensure that all deposits are effectively removed. Use appropriate dental mirrors for better visualization.
• Post-Scaling Evaluation: After scaling is complete, evaluate the treated area for smoothness and cleanliness. Address any residual deposits if necessary.
• Patient Education: Provide post-procedure instructions to the patient for maintaining good oral hygiene, including brushing, flossing, and regular dental check-ups.
• Instrument Maintenance: Clean and sterilize the Cumine #6 scaler tip according to recommended protocols.
