Direction to use :-

  • Preparation: Before using the hatchet, ensure that it is properly sterilized and in good working condition. Check for any damage or wear that could affect its performance.
  • Patient and Operator Preparation: Prepare the patient for the dental procedure, ensuring proper anesthesia or numbing if required. As the operator, wash your hands thoroughly and put on appropriate personal protective equipment (gloves, mask, and eyewear).
  • Positioning: Position the patient comfortably in the dental chair, ensuring good visibility and access to the area requiring treatment. Use a dental mirror and appropriate lighting to aid visualization.
  • Grasp the Hatchet: Hold the GDC Enamel Hatchet – 4 firmly but comfortably in your dominant hand, ensuring a secure grip on the handle. The blade should be facing the tooth surface that requires enamel or dentin removal.
  • Technique: With a controlled and precise motion, gently place the curved blade of the hatchet on the targeted tooth surface. Apply slight pressure to engage the blade with the enamel or dentin to be removed.
  • Cutting and Shaping: Using short, controlled strokes, move the hatchet in a cutting motion to remove the desired amount of enamel or dentin. The curved blade and beveled cutting edge help in shaping the tooth structure accurately.
  • Clean and Inspect: Periodically clean the blade with a gauze or cotton swab to remove any debris or residue. Inspect the hatchet during the procedure to ensure it remains clean and functional.
  • Rinse and Repeat: Regularly rinse the tooth surface and the hatchet with water or an appropriate irrigating solution to remove debris and maintain a clear field of view. Repeat the cutting and shaping process as needed until the desired tooth preparation is achieved.
  • Final Inspection: Once the enamel or dentin removal is complete, carefully inspect the tooth surface for smoothness, proper shape, and any remaining decay. Make any necessary adjustments using the hatchet or other suitable instruments.
  • Clean and Sterilize: After use, thoroughly clean the GDC Enamel Hatchet – 4 according to the recommended cleaning and sterilization protocols. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for proper maintenance and storage of the instrument.
