The GDC Explorer With PCP11.5B #6 (EXP23/11.5B) is a dental instrument commonly used by dental professionals for periodontal probing and dental exploration during routine dental examinations. It is designed to aid in the detection of dental issues such as tooth decay, calculus, and irregularities on tooth surfaces, as well as assess the health of the gums. Explorer on one side: The dental explorer is used with its sharp point to enhance tactile sensation and to determine the presence of tooth decay on tooth enamel. PCP11.5B on the other side: Laser Markings  mm3,5-5,5-8,5-11,5 to measure pocket depths around a tooth in order to establish the state of health of the periodontium with its long, thin, and blunted tip. There are markings inscribed onto the head of the instrument for accuracy and readability.

Direction to use :-

  • Sterilization: Ensure that the GDC Explorer is properly sterilized before each use following recommended dental infection control protocols.
  • Preparing the Instrument: Inspect the explorer for any visible damage or wear before using it. Check that the tips are secure and not loose.
  • Positioning and Grasping: Hold the GDC Explorer in a modified pen grasp, similar to holding a pen or pencil, for precise control. Position yourself comfortably and at the correct angle to access the patient’s teeth effectively.
  • Dental Examination: Use the PCP11.5B probe tip for periodontal probing to measure pocket depths and assess gum health. Use the #6 explorer tip for dental exploration to identify tooth decay, cavities, or irregularities on tooth surfaces.
  • Gentle Probing: Apply gentle pressure while probing around the teeth and along the gumline to avoid causing discomfort to the patient. Avoid excessive force to prevent potential damage to soft tissues or tooth surfaces.
  • Proper Disposal or Cleaning: Dispose of any single-use components, such as disposable tips or liners, according to infection control protocols.For reusable parts, clean and sterilize them.
  • Safety Precautions: Use the GDC Explorer with caution to prevent accidental injury to the patient or dental professional. Avoid contact with sharp tips to prevent accidental punctures.
