Direction to use :-

• Patient Preparation: Ensure that the patient is comfortably seated in the dental chair with good lighting for clear visibility.
• Sterilization: Before use, ensure that the GDC Explorer is properly sterilized following standard infection control protocols.
• Grasp the Instrument: Hold the GDC Explorer in a modified pen grasp, similar to holding a pen, to maintain control and precision during the examination.
• UNC-15 Probe Tip: To measure pocket depths around the teeth, use the UNC-15 probe tip (marked with PCPUNC15) at one end of the instrument. Gently insert the probe into the gingival sulcus or periodontal pocket and move it along the tooth surface. Note and record the depth of the pockets.
• Explorer Tip: To detect tooth decay and other irregularities on the tooth surfaces, use the explorer tip (usually marked with #6) at the other end of the instrument. Carefully glide the explorer tip along the tooth surfaces, feeling for any roughness or irregularities.
• Light Pressure: Apply light pressure when probing or exploring to avoid causing discomfort or damaging the soft tissues.
• Record Findings: During the examination, record your findings, including pocket depths and any detected dental issues, for future reference and treatment planning.
• Rinse and Dry: After use, rinse the GDC Explorer with water to remove debris, and then dry it thoroughly before sterilization.
• Sterilization After Use: Follow proper sterilization procedures to ensure the instrument is ready for the next use.
• Educate the Patient: Discuss your findings with the patient and provide necessary oral hygiene instructions and treatment recommendations based on the examination results.
