Direction to use :-
- Prepare the patient: Ensure the patient is comfortable and properly positioned for the dental procedure. Use appropriate anesthesia or numbing agents if necessary.
- Select the correct instrument: Choose the GDC Furcation Curette Quetin with the appropriate configuration based on the furcation involvement and the area to be treated (buccal/lingual or mesial/distal).
- Pre-procedural cleaning: Before using the curette, thoroughly clean the working area using dental scalers or ultrasonic instruments to remove any visible debris or calculus.
- Instrument grasp: Hold the handle of the furcation curette in a pen grip or modified pen grip, whichever is comfortable for you. Ensure a firm grip to maintain control and precision during the procedure.
- Insertion: Insert the working end of the curette into the furcation area, positioning it parallel to the tooth surface. Use a gentle, controlled motion to avoid tissue trauma.
- Scaling and root planing: With the working end of the curette against the root surface, use a scraping motion to remove calculus, plaque, and debris from the furcation area. Move the curette in short, controlled strokes, adapting to the root anatomy.
- Rinse and inspect: Periodically rinse the area with water or an antimicrobial solution to remove debris. Inspect the area to ensure thorough removal of calculus and plaque.
- Repeat if necessary: Depending on the severity of furcation involvement, you may need to repeat the scaling and root planing process multiple times to ensure complete cleaning.
- Post-procedural care: After the procedure, provide appropriate oral hygiene instructions to the patient, including proper brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits for maintenance.
