GDC Tooth Separator

Tooth Separator is a pointed wedge-shaped device that is inserted between teeth to produce the desired amount of separation. It is available in two forms.

GDC Tooth Separator Ivory :- 

• Ivory separators work on the wedge principle and allow rapid separation. Due to its design, it is also called the crab claw separator. It should be positioned apical to the contact area. Turning the screw in a clockwise direction allows the separation of the teeth in contact.

GDC Tooth Separator Elliot :-

• An elliot separator is used to separate teeth with tight contacts. This allows for better restoration in case of class 2 cavities. It is also called a carb claw separator.

Direction to use :-

• Clean and sanitize your hands: Before starting any dental procedure, ensure that your hands are clean and sanitized to maintain proper hygiene.
• Position the patient: Have the patient sit in a comfortable position and ensure good visibility of the teeth that require separation.
• Select the appropriate tooth separator: Depending on the specific requirements, choose the suitable GDC Tooth Separator size and type.
• Isolate the tooth: Use a dental dam or any other method to isolate the tooth or teeth that require separation. This helps in creating a dry and controlled environment.
• Apply the tooth separator: Hold the tooth separator with a firm grip, ensuring that the separator blades are properly aligned. Gently insert the separator between the targeted teeth, applying light pressure.
• Activate the separator: Activate the tooth separator by gently turning the handle or activating the mechanism according to the specific design. This will gradually separate the teeth, creating the desired space.
