The GDC Gritman Knife (OKG) is a dental instrument commonly used in dental laboratories for carving and shaping wax and plaster models. • Used to carve wax patterns, generally a blunt blade of varying size and shape, which can be heated for softening the wax while fashioning the pattern.

Direction to use :- 

Wax Carving:

• Secure the wax model on a stable work surface or a waxing platform.
• Hold the GDC Gritman Knife firmly with a comfortable grip.
• Start carving the wax model by gently applying the knife’s sharp edge to the wax surface.
• Use slow and controlled movements to shape the wax into the desired form, following the dentist’s instructions or the treatment plan.
• Be mindful of the level of detail required, and use the knife’s fine tip for adding intricate features or textures.
• Periodically check the progress to ensure that the wax model meets the desired specifications.

Plaster Model Trimming:

• Position the plaster model on a stable surface or plaster trimming stand.
• Hold the GDC Gritman Knife firmly with a comfortable grip.
• Begin trimming the excess plaster material from the model using controlled and precise movements.
• Pay attention to the margins and surfaces, ensuring they are smooth and well-defined.
• Make necessary adjustments to achieve the required anatomical details and accuracy.
• Avoid applying excessive force to prevent damage to the model.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

• After use, clean the GDC Gritman Knife thoroughly with an appropriate cleaning solution or disinfectant to remove any wax or plaster residues.
• Rinse the knife with water and dry it carefully using a clean, soft cloth.
• Inspect the knife for any signs of damage or wear, and if necessary, sharpen the blade according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
