The GDC Dycal Applicator D/E With Spatula (SP60616) is a dental instrument used for the placement of calcium hydroxide materials, commonly known as Dycal, in dental procedures. It is designed to facilitate the precise and controlled application of the material onto the tooth surface. A double-ended instrument has a spatula on one side and a ball end on the other.

Direction to use :-

• Prepare the Dycal material: Ensure that the Dycal material is properly mixed according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This may involve dispensing the necessary amount onto a mixing pad and mixing it to achieve a smooth consistency.
• Position the patient and access the treatment area: Position the patient comfortably in the dental chair and ensure proper access to the tooth or area where the Dycal material will be applied.
• Sterilize the applicator: Before use, make sure the applicator is properly sterilized according to standard infection control protocols. This helps prevent the spread of infections or diseases.
• Hold the applicator correctly: Grasp the handle of the applicator firmly but comfortably, ensuring a secure grip. The handle is designed for optimal control and manipulation during the application process.
• Spatula end: Use the spatula end of the applicator to retrieve the desired amount of mixed Dycal material from the container. Ensure that the spatula is clean and free from any contaminants before dispensing the material.
• Mix and manipulate the material: On a mixing pad, use the spatula end to mix and manipulate the Dycal material as needed to achieve a smooth and consistent texture. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the recommended mixing time.
• D/E end: Once the Dycal material is properly mixed, switch to the D/E end of the applicator for application. Use the pointed tip to carefully place the material onto the prepared tooth surface, such as a cavity or area of tooth decay.
• Apply with precision: Use the D/E end to accurately place the Dycal material into the desired locations. Take care to ensure full coverage of the affected tooth surfaces, maintaining a thin and even layer of the material.
• Complete the procedure: Once the Dycal material is applied, proceed with the restorative procedure as indicated by the treatment plan. Follow the appropriate steps for filling, sealing, or further treatment of the tooth.
• Clean and sterilize: After use, clean the applicator thoroughly according to recommended protocols, ensuring the removal of any residual Dycal material. Properly sterilize the applicator for future use.
