Description :-

The GDC Sub Gingival Scalers S/7 Instruments Kit (SGSP7) is a set of dental instruments commonly used for scaling and root planing procedures. These procedures are typically performed to remove plaque and calculus buildup below the gum line and smooth the surface of the root to promote healthy gum tissue attachment. The SGSP7 kit includes seven instruments, each with a unique shape and size, designed to access different areas of the mouth and effectively remove debris and calculus buildup. Indications:

• Periodontal disease: Scaling and root planing is a standard treatment for periodontal disease, which is a bacterial infection that affects the gum tissue and bone supporting the teeth. The SGSP7 kit is designed to remove plaque and calculus buildup below the gum line and promote healthy gum tissue attachment, which is crucial for managing periodontal disease.
• Deep pockets: Patients with deep periodontal pockets (greater than 3mm) may benefit from the use of subgingival scalers. The SGSP7 kit is specifically designed to reach and clean these deep pockets effectively.
• Root surfaces: Scaling and root planing procedures require special instruments to access the tooth’s root surfaces, which can become rough and irregular over time. The SGSP7 kit’s sharp, pointed tips allow for the effective removal of plaque and calculus buildup on these surfaces.

Direction to use:-

• Select the appropriate instrument from the kit based on the patient’s needs and the location of the teeth.
• Hold the instrument like a pen or pencil with your dominant hand and rest your other hand on the patient’s face for stability.
• Place the tip of the instrument on the tooth surface at a 45-degree angle to the tooth and below the gum line.
• Use short, gentle back-and-forth or circular motions to remove plaque and calculus buildup from the root surface.
• Work your way around the tooth, using the appropriate side of the instrument to access different surfaces and angles.
• Rinse the tooth and instrument frequently to remove debris and prevent buildup.
• Repeat the process for all teeth that require scaling and root planing.
• Provide post-treatment instructions and schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
