The GDC Ligature Cutter (3000/106) is a dental instrument designed specifically for cutting orthodontic ligatures. Direction to use :- 

• Prepare the patient: Ensure that the patient is in a comfortable position with good visibility and access to the area where the ligatures need to be cut.
• Sterilization: Make sure that the ligature cutter is properly sterilized according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This is crucial to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Positioning: Hold the ligature cutter in a comfortable and secure grip, ensuring that your fingers are positioned away from the cutting edges.
• Visualization: Use a dental mirror or other appropriate tools to get a clear view of the ligature you intend to cut. Adequate visualization is essential to ensure accurate cutting and prevent accidental damage to adjacent structures.
• Placement: Carefully position the cutting edges of the ligature cutter around the ligature wire or elastic band that needs to be cut. Take caution to avoid unnecessary contact with other orthodontic components.
• Cutting: Apply gentle but firm pressure to the handles of the ligature cutter to engage the cutting edges. Make a smooth and decisive cutting motion, ensuring that the blades completely sever the ligature.
• Removal: Once the ligature is cut, remove it from the oral cavity using appropriate instruments or suction.
• Inspection: After cutting the ligature, inspect the area to ensure that the ligature has been completely removed and there are no sharp edges or residual fragments.
• Clean and Sterilize: Clean the ligature cutter thoroughly according to the manufacturer’s guidelines. If the instrument is designed to be autoclavable, follow the sterilization process before using it again.
