Position the patient comfortably in the dental chair and ensure good visibility of the area where you will be cutting the ligature or wire.
- Isolate the Area: Use dental mirrors, cheek retractors, or other appropriate instruments to isolate and expose the ligature or wire that needs to be cut. Ensure that the area is dry and free from saliva for better visibility and accuracy.

- Inspection: After making the cut, visually inspect the area to confirm that the ligature or wire has been cut as intended. Ensure that there are no loose ends or protrusions.
